3D Printed parts can go through many different phases before a prototype would be considered finished. After we create the parts in the machines we have other places they may go here at headquarters. Here is an image of a Realize team member working on our bead blaster machine which we have named “The Blastinator.”
Realize is currently enjoying all that AMUG 2016 (The Additive Manufacturing Users Group) has to offer but we are also feeling very honored this morning. Last night our BB8 prototype landed a runner up trophy in the Advanced Finishing contest. Congrats to our team and all the hard work that went into creating the Star Wars robot. We didn’t win first prize but the entries this year were all so amazing it’s hard to feel bad about it. We are just appreciative to be working and creating with the best in our industry. Our President, Todd Reese was on hand to accept the prestigious Dino Award. As a company, we feel this is one of the the best awards to receive in our industry and we are both humbled and appreciative to be honored by AMUG in this category.
The Distinguished INnovator Operator (DINO) Award is AMUG’s most prestigious honor. It is bestowed upon those with the highest levels of additive manufacturing expertise and a willingness to share that knowledge through contributions to AMUG, its members and the industry it represents.

Realize will be making our way to AMUG 2016 this week. We are looking for the three-peat! Our team won both times we entered into the Advanced Finishing contest. Klarg took home the prize in 2015 and this year we are entering something super galactic hoping for the victory. Good luck Realize team!
We have an excellent and award winning team in our advanced custom finishing department. Here is a photo showing just a small amount of some of the “tools of the trade” from that area of the building. You never know what you will need for customization of a particular part. 3D Printing and SLA prototypes can require some out of the box thinking.
